Dominic Klemme ready for 2010
Team Saxo Bank’s Dominic Klemme is already known for his aggressive and entertaining style of riding which is somewhat similar to his countryman, teammate and idol, Jens Voigt. For the 23-year-old German, time has come to take a step up and open the doors to the biggest races on the calender: “I am in the line-up for the Belgian spring classics, Gent-Wevelgem, Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Here, I am going to give what I have to assist Fabian and Stuart in their pursue for victory. But anything can happen in these kinds of races but I think I can make a difference for the team. I feel ready and I am very motivated to take on the challenges. But before then, I am looking forward to preparing myself in a warmer climate.”
Like any other northern European, the U23 German national champion is struggling against the cold weather conditions around his home in Bielefeld, Germany where he combines road training with long training sessions on his home trainer:
“It’s too cold to be on the bike for 4-5 hours so I combine the two kinds of training, although I find it incredibly boring. I have to watch some really good TV-programs in order to hold out that long. But fortunately, we will soon be doing the Tour of Qatar and Tour of Oman where I get some solid race kilometers in a much nicer climate. During the training camp on Fuerteventura, we trained much harder compared to last year’s camp, but it was a good experience and I am already feeling well-prepared for the season, ” concludes the hardworking young German.
Dominic Klemme will be doing the Italian stage race, Tirreno-Adriatico as well.
